The moment I was born, I donned four hats: Daughter, Granddaughter, Niece, and Cousin. Ten months later, I added a new cap- Sister, and got a feather in that cap 6 years following as I became a sister for the second time. Through the years those two and others gave me a new hat; Friend. I wore a Girlfriend and Fiance hat for awhile, before trading them in forever on December 21st, 1999 for Wife. A three-for-one hat deal actually, that came with Daughter-in-law and Sister-in-law as a bonus. A few years later I added a pink Aunt hat, and a double-billed Mom hat shortly thereafter. My latest cap is Foster Mom, although, it fits so snugly inside of the Mom hat I almost don't notice the difference.
In between these I've worn others; Co-worker, Teacher, Babysitter, Chaperone, etc, and some hats have expanded and grown (I've got seven nieces and one nephew now!). My daily routine requires me to toss on Chef, Housekeeper, Judge, and Jury among others. But those first dozen hats are the most important to me, and although I sometimes find it hard to fit through doorways or walk under low-hanging branches, I wear them all with pride.
